I’m Gerald Gurss
I believe singing creates community, and those communities have power to change our world.
Choral music is my passion and my joy. Since I was young, I have been drawn to the beauty of words and melodies that can touch our hearts and bring us closer. My faithful husky-shepherd Blue, who gave me the idea for Bluedog Music, is always by my side when I compose. On my site, you will discover a rich variety of choral compositions that reflect my love of music and poetry.

About My Compositions
For me, the music is driven by the text.
The emotions extracted from the text compel the musical ideas. Even my instrumental endeavors have been programmatic in nature.
I’ve loved choral music for as long as I can remember – whether singing, conducting, listening to, or composing it. Perhaps part of it is that nothing feels as personal and intimate in a group of platonic friends than sharing your singing. It has the unique power to bring people together.
Perhaps, this is why I’ve served GALA Choruses in many capacities.
My works have been finalists for the American Prize in Choral Composition numerous times, and I’ve been commissioned to write choral works for many organizations, listed above.
In addition to self-publishing, my works can be found published in the “Pride and No Prejudice” series with earthsongs Choral Music and with ECS/Galaxy.
